LBS Round 4: Escazu beat Heredia in the most crucial game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An exciting game was played in San Jose. Top-ranked Escazu faced 3rd ranked Heredia. Host Escazu (3-0) smashed guests from (1-2) 107-67. Escazu dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Heredia's 42. Escazu forced 27 Heredia turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Escazu especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Heredia's players. The former international guard Daniel Shedden (190-96, college: MSUB) fired 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international center Carlos Quesada (198-85) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Panamanian Amir Alvarado (198-84, college: Marshalltown) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Escazu have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with ARBA. Heredia at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Escazu's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in San Jose to the arena ARBA.
Bottom-ranked Asobasca (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-72 loss to fifth ranked Alajuela (2-2) in . Worth to mention a great performance of Jeikol Rojas (-2) who helped to win the game recording 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Carlos Fernandez contributed with 11 points for the winners. Alajuela's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Jaime Alfaro (185-3) replied with 27 points for Asobasca. Alajuela moved-up to third place. Asobasca at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Alajuela will play against Siquirres (#4) in the next round. Asobasca will play against Heredia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
